Summer Experiences

Start your day with a peaceful early-morning stroll along Newport’s iconic Cliff Walk before the crowds roll in. Begin at Easton’s Beach and take in the ocean views, wildflowers, and the backyards of Newport’s historic mansions. Reward yourself afterward with a coffee or breakfast on the terrace at The Chanler, where the ocean breeze and classic New England elegance set the tone for the rest of your day.

If you’re looking for a spot to kick back with a great view, The Roof Deck at The Vanderbilt is where it’s at. You can sip on a handcrafted cocktail, maybe nibble on some fresh Rhode Island oysters, and just soak in those amazing panoramic views of Newport Harbor. The vibe is pretty lively but laid-back. And the best part? You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to hang out up there. Perfect for a sunset chill session.
Want to take your outdoor dining up a notch? Stoneacre Picnics has you covered. They handle everything—from setting up cozy seating and fancy dining ware to cleaning up afterward—so all you have to do is relax and enjoy. They even add little touches like lanterns and greenery to make it feel extra special. It’s a really easy way to have a fancy picnic without any of the hassle.

One of the best ways to wind down in Newport? Grab an Adirondack chair on the lawn at Castle Hill Inn. You get unbeatable views of Narragansett Bay, with boats drifting by and the sun setting right in front of you. It’s a classic Newport tradition, and the chairs are first-come, first-served from late morning until sunset so plan to show up early for the best spot.
Explore Norman Bird Sanctuary

If you’re looking to get outside and soak up some nature, the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown is a hidden gem. With over 300 acres and about 7 miles of trails, it’s perfect whether you want a peaceful hike or to spot some local birds. Make sure to check out the trail to Hanging Rock, the views from up there are seriously worth it.
Cruise around Newport’s iconic landmarks in style with Newport Jaguar Tours. If you’re looking for a seriously stylish way to take in the city’s famous sights, this is it. Hop into a classic Jaguar for a private, guided ride to admire Colonial and Victorian architecture or follow in the footsteps of the Kennedys. For an extra special experience, you can even add a gourmet champagne picnic or a stop at a fine dining spot along the way.

It’s one of those classic Aquidneck Island summer traditions — super relaxed and a great way to spend an afternoon.
