Celebrating the Holidays in Newport

Trying to figure out how to make your last days of 2016 memorable? Check out what Newport County has to offer!

As we are nearing closer and closer towards Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year’s, Newport County has a number of holiday inspired events coming up in the next two weeks.

If you’re looking to tour the spectacular mansions located in Newport and Bristol, be sure to visit Blithewold Mansion for high tea, as well as the dozens of mansions located in the heart of Newport. From Rosecliff, to the Breakers, and Marble House, these magnificent homes are decked to the nines.

If touring the mansions is not for you, check out the Newport lantern tour. Every Friday and Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm, listen to the proud historians of Newport reveal the many holiday traditions of colonial Newport while strolling through Brick Market and down Thames Street.

While those activities are not specifically geared towards children, you may want to check out Blithewold Mansion’s annual Sparkle! Outdoor Family Event. Every Friday through the month of December, Blithewold hosts a spectacular marshmallow roasting-Christmas carol singing-cocoa sipping-strolling through the twinkling garden paths-fun for the whole family event! Each Friday night a different group will present two performances of carol singing, from 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. & 7:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. around the bonfire.

Not in the mood to host a New Year’s Eve party? Head over the Hotel Viking for an extravagant dinner, which includes a salad, an entrée and a dessert. There are three reservation times, 5pm, 7pm and 9pm. The 5pm and 7pm are $99 per person and the 9pm reservation is $100, but includes  a Champagne toast, party favors, and table cocktail service. A New Year’s experience, you will not want to pass up!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
