Newport, Rhode Island, home to New England’s Largest Winter Extravaganza!
The Newport Winter Festival is celebrating its 29th year and will feature over 150 events. These events range from live music, food trucks and fun for all ages.
Some of the highlighted events include the Children’s Fair, Martini Making Contest, Easton’s Beach Party and various concerts for all audiences. This year’s Winter Fest will be hosted February 17th through February 26th with different events and activities each day. The different events typically offer two admissions prices. By buying the Winter Fest bracelet for $10, the admissions in the individual events are a tad lower!
Some of the different events in the past include hot drink contest, ice carving contest, polo on the beach, and children’s theatre activities.
Get ready to come hungry and leave happy!
The chili cook-off is one of the main events held during this 10 day spectacle. This year’s chili cook-off will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 11:00 am- 3:30 pm. Hosted at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, the best restaurants and caterers in Newport County will compete to see who truly has the best chili around. In addition to the fabulous chili, enjoy a Sam Adams Special. Admission for the chili cook-off for adults is $10 or $8 w/ bracelet, children (6-10) $3 or $2 w/bracelet and children under 5 are free!
For someone looking for specifically child oriented, check out the Princess Party. Join Ana and Elsa as they transform the OceanCliff hotel into a winter wonderland. Enjoy the scrumptious princess inspired treats along with a cup of hot cocoa. Be sure to dress in your favorite princess attire for a royally fun filled day accompanied with fairytale stories, sing alongs and games!
Eat, Drink, Be Merry
We all know, after a long day spent with the kids, a date night is in store. Be sure to attend the comedy show hosted by the Hyatt Regency Hotel. On February 25th starting at 8:30pm, Nick Griffin, who has appeared on Conan, and The Late Late Show, will be performing with Christine Hurley. Both Hurley and Griffin are both well known in the comedic world and will surely have everyone in the audience laughing.
